You’re not alone

If you’re reading this, chances are you, or someone you love, struggles with an intense fear of vomiting.

Emetophobia is more common than people realise, yet unlike other phobias, emetophobia is rarely discussed. It’s misunderstood, minimised, and often dismissed. That silence can leave people feeling isolated, overlooked, ashamed, and deeply alone.

Let’s change that.

What is emetophobia?

Emetophobia is an overwhelming fear of vomiting, but also the constant anticipation of it.

The fear shapes everyday choices: causing avoidance of certain foods, travel, social events, pregnancy, or hospitals. It’s exhausting. It’s isolating. And it can feel all-consuming. People with emetophobia may fear:

Vomiting themselves

Seeing others vomit

Feeling nauseous

Being in public or around illness

Certain foods

Germs

Support, insight, and hope. Your road to recovery from emetophobia can begin right here

Why does nobody talk about it?

Unlike fears of spiders or flying for example, emetophobia is rarely talked about. Vomiting is taboo, it is often laughed off or treated as trivial.

This silence means many people keep their fear hidden, as they are afraid of being misunderstood or even ridiculed.
The less we talk about issues, the more isolated sufferers feel.

Please believe that you are not alone. Far from it.
